Celebrated author Margaret Atwood has announced that she is will not attend the International Festival of Literature in Dubai following the festival director’s decision to ban a book with a gay character.
Atwood, the author of The Handmaid’s Tale and Oryx and Crake, told organisers that could not attend due to “the regrettable turn of events” concerning the banned book.
