Win £300 in queer writing competition
November 19th, 2008
What does your queer London look like? Untold London is running a writing competition to uncover some of the untold stories of queer life in London. Entries can be stories, poems or non-fiction writing such as essays or comment.
“We want the pride and the prejudice, the sensible and the highly senseless,” said Sara Wajid, Untold London editor. “Don’t hold back! Delve into the past, imagine the future, tell it like it is.”
The competition is run by Untold London in association with Chroma Queer Arts Journal. Untold London is a collaboration between a number of organisations with experience in the London history and heritage sector. This project is based at the Museum in Docklands in London.
Wajid hopes that the competitions will help uncover queer writers who can help with Untold London. “I’m hoping to develop a stable of freelance contributors for the LGBT history pages,” she explains. “Slowly but surely, curators and archivists have begun bringing collections out of the closet and I’m looking for reporters and creative writers who can do these stories justice.”
The winning entry will receive £300, and two runners-up will receive £100 each. More information about the competition can be found on the Untold London website.
