Icon‘Brighton Pride not cancelled’ – Police

Sussex police and Brighton Pride organisers have renounced rumours on Twitter that Brighton Pride may be cancelled due to rioting.

In a tweet response earlier today, @sussex_police stated “Lots of rumours spreading about disorder across Sussex but all unfounded.”

A spokesperson for the Brighton & Hove Division of Sussex Police stated “Pride is not cancelled! Sussex Police recognise the national issue and we are keen to support wherever we can. We are monitoring events elsewhere in the county, however local policing needs come first and we aim for business as usual this weekend.”

Thousands of people are expected to attend Brighton Pride this Saturday, 13 August 2011.
