Catholic fury at pro-gay charity
July 20th, 2009
A Church-funded charity has spoken in support of gay adoption, provoking anger from the Catholic Church.
Terry Prendergast of Marriage Care said there was no evidence that children were harmed by having same-sex parents.
Speaking to a conference of gay Roman Catholics in Leicester, former priest Prendergast said that same-sex parents and heterosexual parents who were single or cohabiting but not married suffered discrimination because the Catholic Church did not regard them as ‘real’ families.
The Roman Catholic Church has reacted angrily to the comments.
In a statement, the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales said that although it was difficult to define what a family was, the Church still believed that stability for children came from having parents of opposite genders who could provide different role models.
Since 1 January 2009, religious adoption agencies in the UK have had a legal obligation to treat LGB prospective parents the same as heterosexual people.

Interesting that the R.C. church claims that…..hmmmmmm….aren’t they the same group that was responsible for the sexual genocide and endless physical abuse against, oh, say, for example, the Irish children for over a century?
Excellent source for parenting tips! All joking aside with their track record globally caring for children I think they’ve got balls even daring to think about condemning and loving home a child can find.
Jesus, didn’t the clergy get any of the catholic guilt & shame the rest of the world got spoon thread?
