Day Without a Gay
November 21st, 2008There’s an old joke that goes: if homosexuality is a disease, let’s all call in queer to work: “Sorry, can’t work today, still queer.” But now in a strange case of life imitating art, some American workers really are planning to call in gay to work.
December 10 2008 is the international Human Rights Day and also the unofficial ‘Day without a Gay’.
On this day, LGBT workers and their straight allies are encouraged to ‘call in gay’ and do some volunteer work for LGBT rights and/or human rights organisations instead of their usual paid employment.
Find out more about Day without a Gay or find your local place to volunteer (USA only).
