International Day Against Homophobia: 17 May

IDAHO May 17th, 2010

Today is International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) - a day to highlight the inequality and homophobia that LGBT people still face across the world.

Being gay is an offence punishable by death in seven countries. In a further 75 countries LGBT people face imprisonment and hard labour for their ‘crime’.

Manchester’s Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) is today launching a video to help challenge homophobia in the UK. The video, ‘Enough is Enough’ features Sir Ian McKellan and will be shown at Pride events over the Summer.
