New York rejects gay marriage
December 4th, 2009
New York has rejected a bill to make gay marriage legal in the state. The state senate voted 24-38 to reject the bill, despite earlier approval of the bill.
New York’s decision is the latest in a series of blows to the gay marriage lobby in the USA; last month Maine repealed a state law that would have allowed gay couples to marry.
Five US states currently allow gay marriage: Iowa, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
