Obama and McAleese top gay lust polls
December 9th, 2008
Barack Obama is the most lusted-after politician for gay men, while lesbians would most want to date Ireland’s president Mary McAleese, according to the latest meaningless internet poll.
US President-Elect Obama came top of the poll for men, with 52% of the vote. He is ahead of similarly pro-gay left-wing Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (19%) and French Prime Minister Nicolas Sarkozy (12%). The occasionally topless knife-wielding tiger-stunning Russian muscleman, Vladimir Putin, took 9% of the vote, and poor old British Prime Minister Gordon Brown scored only 4%.
Lesbians in the poll were not exactly spoilt for choice when it came to rating female world leaders, but top of the ranking with 25% of votes was staunchly pro-gay Irish President, Mary McAleese (pictured left).
Second in the poll, with 22% of the vote was former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark. Next was Chilean President Michelle Bachelet (18%), Finish President Tarja Halonen (15%), German Chancellor, Angela Merkel (11%), and finally Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko with 9% of the vote.
“Whatever their outward stance on gay issues, world leaders – at least those in democracies that neither outlaw nor scapegoat homosexuals – would doubtless secretly love to maximise their own little share of support from Earth’s ballpark-estimated 600 million gay citizens,” commented Gay-PARSHIP spokesperson, Adrian Gillan.
“The assured youthful prowess of Obama, and the suave Franco-Hispanic charms of the French and Spanish PMs, seemingly safely trump displays of raw Russian might, Scottish prudence and Italian bravado.
“And, whilst Mary’s shining Irish eyes make most gay girls swoon, Frau Merkel will be thrilled to pip her younger Ukrainian counterpart.”
