Slovakia is to hold its first Pride event March 4th, 2010 by Martina.Booth

Slovakia will become the final country in the European Union to hold a gay Pride festival.

Rainbow PRIDE will take place in Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava, on Saturday 22nd May. Although few details about the event have been released, it has been confirmed that a march in the centre of Bratislava will be supported by a concert and accompanying events.

“PRIDE is a celebration of who we are, our identities, our presence and civic participation in Slovak society,” said Romana Schlesinger, the event’s PR manager.

“PRIDE is also a march for true equality for LGBT people with legal recognition for same-sex couples and the possibility for adoptions and assisted reproduction,” she added.
