Worcester Pride postponed due to lack of funding

August 12th, 2010 by Martina.Booth

Worcester’s first Pride event has been postponed until next year due to funding problems and a lack of support from local organisations.

The event, which was scheduled to take place at Worcester Racecourse in September, will now run in a scaled-down format next year.

Organisers said the event was postponed after losing £1,500 of funding from the county’s Fire and Rescue Service, along with the offer of marshals for the event.

They added there had been “less support than anticipated from [some] statutory organisations, with a growing unwillingness to engage with the community and group.”

Some revised Worcester Pride events will be held between 17th-19th Sept at AiR Cafe and the Brewery Tap. For more information, go to: www.worcesterpride.co.uk
