Ellen Page to play lesbian police officer
Juno star Ellen Page is set to star in a new film about a terminally ill police officer.
The film will be based on the real life story of Laurel Hester, a New Jersey police officer with lung cancer who fought for the right to have her pension passed to her partner on her death – a benefit only permitted to heterosexual couples.
Hester’s story has already been made into the Oscar-winning short documentary Freeheld, directed by Cynthia Wade.
