IconLesbian wins Danish X Factor

A 15-year-old lesbian has been voted as the winner of Denmark’s 2011 X Factor competition.

The teenager, who is openly gay, beat two other finalists – a 16-year-old boy called Babou and a 32-year-old singer called Annelouise.

Sarah, whose last name is not known, performed at the live final show, which was held at a football stadium in the capital, Copenhagen, in front of millions of viewers.

She sung Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, and adapted the lyrics to match her sexuality.

The bookies’ favourite was also joined on stage by the English boyband Take That in what was billed as “the world’s biggest X Factor final”.

The young singer’s husky voice has been a matter of debate in the build-up to the final, with voice experts saying she should not be able to participate in the show because her singing style is said to be damaging her vocal cords, according to the Copenhagen Post.

Sarah lists her musical influences as Elvis, Michael Jackson, Nirvana and Pink.

    Verse:
We’re all afraid of loving and losing each other
    and before we know it
    we’re alone again
    We’re looking for something
Trying to find the meaning of life

    Watching the mirror
Who is it that’s looking back?
    She’s perfect
but a voice tells her she’s defective
    Close your eyes
don’t be afraid to be who you are.

    Chorus:
    To everyone who’s listening tonight
has anybody ever told you that you’re okay? (You’re okay)
Do you see what I see when I look at you
It’s perfectly clear – you’re perfect to me
    You’re okay

    Verse:
She’s not a ghost, just a shadow of herself
She’s doing everything to forget about her thoughts
Do you recognise her when she’s walking past you?
You know it, you know it’s to easy to give up
    ‘Cause you’ve come so far
    there’s no reason to stop
I’ll follow you if you need a helping hand

    Chorus:
    To everyone who’s listening tonight
has anybody ever told you that you’re okay? (You’re okay)
Do you see what I see when I look at you
It’s perfectly clear – you’re perfect to me
    You’re okay

    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Let me hear you say it x 2
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
Let me hear you say it
    You’re okay

    Chorus:
    To everyone who’s listening tonight
has anybody ever told you that you’re okay? (You’re okay)
Do you see what I see when I look at you
It’s perfectly clear – you’re perfect to me
    You’re okay
