Lesbilicious Comedy: Tuesday 22nd May 2012
Lesbilicious Comedy is back! Tuesday May 22nd. As usual it’s a night of comedy for lesbian / bisexual women and their friends. We moved to The Stand Comedy Club, Newcastle’s newest and best purpose-built comedy venue, in March 2012. The move was worth it and the feedback from you and from the comedians has been great. We look forward to seeing you all there in May for another top night of comedy.
Performing on Monday 26 March 2012 will be…
Kate McCabe (compere)An American now living in Manchester, Kate was a semi-finalist for the 2010 Funny Women Awards.
She also performs with The Famous Lesbian Comedy Roadshow* (*no famous lesbians included) and with Manchester-based sketch comedy troupe The Tourists.
More Tina Fey than Katy Brand; awesome” – The Mancunian
Mary BourkeSoftly spoken Irish comedian Mary Bourke has taken her stand up all over the world.
She hates overblown bios and so we aren’t sure if it true that she was a burlesque dancer and choreographer in San Francisco before turning to stand up. Come see the show and you can work that out for yourself.
“A softly spoken Irish women with an erudite wit and a veterans delivery.” - East Anglian Daily Times
“Intelligent comedy that’s also furiously funny” – The Irish World
“Catch her act before she becomes a (complete and utter) cult” – The Guardian
“One of the best female stand ups I’ve seen” – The Stage
Rosie Wilby (headliner)Rosie is somewhat of a veteran on the lesbian comedy circuit.
She has been a finalist in the Funny Women competition and a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny, Amused Moose Laugh Off and Laughing Horse New Act of the Year. Rosie boasts an impressive four shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and has Sydney Mardi Gras under her belt too. Not literally.
When not on stage she can be found on Resonance 104.4FM’s LGBT Show, Out in South London as well as making short films that just happen to make it into the BFI’s London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (The Bride and Bride, 2011), not that she’s bragging or anything.
“Talented performer with a winning self-deprecating personality” - Evening Standard
“A lesbian Eddie Izzard” – Diva
“Excellent and a bit posh” – Time Out
