“I hate Katy Perry” - Beth Ditto
June 2nd, 2009
Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto has lashed out at Katy Perry, calling the singer “offensive to gay culture” and accusing Perry’s faux-lesbian anthem ‘I kissed a girl’ of being “a boner dyke anthem for straight girls who like to turn guys on by making out or, like, faking gay.”
“I hate Katy Perry,” said Ditto in an interview with Attitude magazine. “I’m so offended. She’s just riding on the backs of our culture without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all.”
Ditto is not the first lesbian icon to criticise the track. Last year, Pink suggested that the song “trivialised being gay”, adding that her gay girlfriends had been “kinda put off by it”.

I agree. Katy Perry sings:” I kissed a girl just to try it
Aenbe ∼ June 3rd, 2009 1:04 pmI hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight(…)” and ” No, I don’t even know your name
It doesn’t matter,
You’re my experimental game(…)” . No need to mention that at the end of the music video she actually wakes up next to her boyfriend. Sooo anooying!
“She’s just riding on the backs of our culture” Hahaha! Our culture, hmm yes private little club.
“actually lesbian or anything at all” maybe she should apoligize for not being gay. wouldn’t that be a hoot.
“straight girls who like to turn guys on by making out or, like, faking gay.” Sorry but in todays young society everyone does this. Every girl i know has claimed to be Bi at least once and it’s a load of arse, I don’t think a song that has a catchy beat and is impossible not to dance to, acctuly effects how young straight girls get into the pants of men.
