Jan Moir is Stonewall’s Bigot of the Year
November 9th, 2009
Jan Moir has been named Bigot of the Year at the 2009 Stonewall Awards thanks to her vicious article about Stephen Gately two weeks ago in the Daily Mail.
Moir was a late entrant to the category and shares the award with Father John Owen, who was voted Bigot of the Year by thousands of Stonewall supporters for claiming that the majority of child abuse was carried out by gay men.
Hero of the Year was won by Reverend Scott Rennie, the Church of Scotland’s first openly gay minister. Sarah Waters won the Writer of the Year award for her 2009 Man Booker prize-shortlisted novel The Little Stranger.
‘Entertainer of the Year’ went to Boyzone, and the award was collected on behalf of the band by Andrew Cowles, Stephen Gately’s widower.
“When Boyzone did their video a year ago, it featured Stephen with another man,” said Cowles as he collected the award. “It wasn’t a press stunt – they wanted to show Stephen as he was.”
“The other guys just respected Stephen and my – our – relationship. The boys wanted to be here tonight – they’ll be so proud.
“I also want to say thanks for your support in the last few weeks – especially to all who contacted the Press Complaints Commission over Jan Moir’s article.”

Anyone noticed that even though the coroners report has just acknowledged Gatelys death was of natural causes… she still hasnt properly appologised or admitted she was wrong?! The woman is a twat.
