Missy Higgins is lesboat cruisin’
May 12th, 2008
Oz-lez favourite Missy Higgins will be floating many a seafaring ladies’ boat in October, when she plays aboard an Olivia cruise.
The folk singer-songwriter will be playing the Music and Sports Mexican Riviera cruise, organised by US lesbian tour operators Olivia. If you’ve not heard of Missy Higgins’ name, you’re sure to have heard her music - her single ‘Where I Stood’ has featured on Grey’s Anatomy, Smallville and One Tree Hill.
Higgins is famously ‘not-so-straight’, half coming out in Australian lesbian magazine Cherrie and then clarifying on her Myspace “I’ve never felt comfortable with labeling or categorizing human beings. However if we’re going to pigeonhole me, I’ve been in relationships with both men and women so I guess I fall most easily under the category ‘Bisexual’.”
Also getting involved with Olivia cruises is everyone’s favourite queergirl, Leisha Hailey. Hailey is the new face of Olivia because she is “hip, fun and approachable” and “the out ‘it girl’ today”, according to an Olivia spokesperson.
For her part, Leisha is apparently “excited to be part of the Olivia family and to have the opportunity to introduce Olivia to women who may not be familiar with the entertainment or travel aspect of Olivia.”
So it’s not about the cash at all.
