Openly lesbian Scottish Conservative MP elected
The Scottish Parliament has its first ever openly-lesbian Conservative minister, following last week’s elections.
Former BBC journalist Ruth Davidson was voted Member of Scottish Parliament for Glasgow.

A slight correction. Ruth is not the first openly lesbian MSP in the Scottish Parliament as Lib Dem MSP Margaret Smith for Edinburgh Western who was elected in 2003 but lost her seat in the 2012 elections was also openly lesbian. However as Margaret Smith lost her seatat the same election Ruth was elected at, Ruth is the only openly lesbian MSP currently serving in the Scottish Parliament would be the correct satement to make.
