They stole eggs, then they won the best parenting award, now China’s favourite gay penguin couple have decided to formalise their love in a penguin wedding.

An alternative - and perhaps cynical - view is that zookeepers at the penguin’s enclosure are desperately trying to whip up more publicity for the zoo by forcing human clothes onto the animals and putting them through a bizarre wedding ceremony.

Despite both penguins’ natural black-tie apparal, one of the penguins was made to wear a red bow tie for the ceremony, while the other was dressed in a red blouse. The pair then waddled onto a ‘wedding room’ - to the tune of the Wedding March of course - and ate fish.

According to their keepers at the zoo, the penguin’s wedding was ‘a reward’ for their good parenting skills.
