I hate to say it but… yes. She probably is doing it to make ‘the other girl’ (TOG) jealous. She may genuinely fancy you too, but it sounds as though there is definitely some hockey politics going on.
How to find out if I’m right:
1) Attempt a conversation with her. Do you her eyes stay with you or is she distracted by who else is around?
2) Ask her out on a date. If she says yes, you need to not tell a soul. Then monitor how long it takes to get around the rest of the team. It may be the case that she is just showing off about having a date with you - but I’ll let you make that call.
3) If, despite a lot of flirting, she says no to the date or rejects the offer of a snog from you, then you can assume her motivations haven’t been to woo you and your suspicions are probably spot on.
4) Carefully observe her interaction with TOG. If necessary, stalk. If you know she is going out one night, follow. If you can get access, ‘borrow’ her mobile phone and read the text messages. You should be able to suss the nature of her relationship with TOG from all of above.
5) Finally, I would highly recommend flirting with someone else on your hockey team to see how it affects her.
