Say it to Sappho: Seriously, do lesbians actually do that?

Sappho June 26th, 2009 by Sappho

“Dear Sappho. Some of my new lesbian friends started talking about fisting the other day. Seriously, do lesbians actually do that??

I am gay too I have just never heard of it before - it just sounds horrific and painful and I don’t understand!”

Yep, some of them do actually do that. As do some gay men and some heterosexual people. Think about it, if you can imagine something feasibly being done then no doubt has someone tried it (if not a lot of people).

Fisting is very much a sexual act associated with lesbians, probably because we use our hands a lot. The name absolutely doesn’t do it any favours and I imagine you have some horrendous vision of a fight gone wrong.

The reality really isn’t that scary. Fisting involves inserting all fingers and then the rest of your hand into the vagina after a long build up. It takes plenty of patience, communication and want for it. Otherwise it just isn’t going to happen.

Not everyone is in to fisting. Just as not everyone is into oral sex. You might find you are never interested in it and never find a partner who is interested in it. However, if you do, there are some good books out there that you can look to for a bit more advice and guidance.

And to think that some people don’t believe that two women can have ‘real’ sex together. Ah, I love lesbians.
