Sh! sex toy review: the Earth Angel
May 5th, 2009
“When my flat mate asked me what the buzzing noise was, I told her I was doing my bit for the planet.” Tess Owen reviews the world’s first 100% ‘green’ sex toy.
My first thoughts towards this toy were: ‘What? You have to wind it up yourself? I thought the whole point of vibrators was their lazy factor?’ My final thoughts towards this toy were ‘Earth Angel, thank you. Not only have I been able to get myself off, I have also successfully managed to limit any negative impact I could normally have had on the environment by having a wank’.
The Earth Angel is a world first: it is 100% green. This, in my opinion, is completely impressive – and that’s before you have even turned it on, so to speak. It is made entirely from recyclable parts and plastic.
Without instructions, it takes two seconds to work out what is going on. You use the clever little flip handle to wind up this self-powered pleasure giver. 4 minutes of winding it up gives you 30 minutes of fun, 8 minutes would give you an hour. Not a penny spent on batteries. This is a novelty that surely won’t wear off.
There are 4 power settings and it is surprisingly powerful. It supposedly can’t be heard from the next room but I think that would depend on your walls. I couldn’t possibly be ashamed of using such an intelligent, well-thought through appliance. When my flat mate asked me what the buzzing noise was, I told her I was doing my bit for the planet.
At first, I thought its only downside was its appearance. However, there is something very ‘wind turbine’ about it (without the propellers…) and so I am struggling to criticise. Okay, no, it doesn’t have little ears like one of those rabbit things but what it lacks in creative design, it makes up for in ingenuity. And it can give an orgasm like the best of them. For those of you who can’t get past having to wind it up yourself, it does have a charge port.
For many women, the Earth Angel will be a dream come true. You will never have to worry about being caught short of a couple of AAA batteries again. For those of you with a green conscience, the Earth Angel will be the icing on your wheat free, vegan cake.
