Swedish airline holds competition for country’s first inflight same-sex wedding
Love could truly be in the air later this year when a Scandinavian airline gives gay competition winners the chance to experience Sweden’s first-ever in-flight gay marriage.
SAS says it is looking for the “perfect” couple to take their love to new heights and tie the knot in Swedish airspace, as gay marriage is legal in Sweden, in a flight from Stockholm to New York in December.
In addition to the free flight, the winning couple will receive three nights at the W Hotel in New York and a honeymoon in Los Angeles, as well as a wedding buffet during the flight.
Entrants can upload photos and videos in order to win, with the winners being chosen by online voters.
So far, around 35 couples from as far as China, Malta, Denmark and the UK have signed up.
A spokesman for the airline said: “It will be a very traditional wedding. There will be wedding cake and dancing in the aisles.”
