‘Ellen’ creator to write new lesbian sitcom

Carol Leifer, writer, comedian, and the woman who brought us Ellen is producing a new lesbian sitcom.
You, Me and He will be loosely based on Leifer’s own experiences of coming out in later life, and is set to feature a recently-divorced protagonist who enters a lesbian relationship - only to discover that she is pregnant with her ex-husband’s baby.
In an interview with Time Magazine, Leif, who had her first lesbian experience at the age of 40, explained the inspiration for the sitcom.
“My kind of gay is like the late-breaking-lesbian kind of gay,” she said.
“The whole experience spun me around. I really thought this was going to be a fun fling, and I had no idea that it would become this finding my soul mate, the love-of-my-life sort of deal.”
Although there is no word on whether Ellen herself will take time out from her daytime chat show and judging American Idol, Leifer is set to work with L Word and West Wing alumnus Marlee Matlin on another show, Mouthpiece, for former L Word home Showtime.
