Oscar-winning actress Vivien Leigh was an adulterous bisexual, according to claims in a new biography about the British star.
The biography, Damn You, Scarlett O’Hara, by author Darwin Porter, alleges that Leigh’s marriage to English actor Laurence Olivier was a “smokescreen” and that both were unfaithful to each others within weeks of their dating in 1937.
Olivier and Leigh married in 1940, but according to the book, co-authored by Roy Moseley – one of Olivier’s former assistants – Leigh, who played the infamous southern belle Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind, had at least three lesbian affairs.
One of the affairs was said to be with British actress Isabel Jeans, the star of several Hitchcock films.
Leigh, who died of tuberculosis aged 53 in 1967 after battling with bipolar depression for most of her adult life, is also said to have visited a male brothel with her gay director friend George Cukor in the 1940s.
