Jodie Foster’s 14-year relationship with film producer Cydney Bernard has ended, according to the Daily Mail. (What? This has come from right-wing anti-gay rag the Daily Mail? Indeed - and it gets worse…)

Jodie Foster has always refused to talk about her private life, refusing to confirm or deny rumours that she was gay. However, in a speech in December 2007 she publicly thanked “My beautiful Cydney, who sticks by me through all the rotten and the bliss” in a move which was widely interpreted as public confirmation of their relationship.

The two women have also worn matching Tiffany eternity rings on their wedding fingers for several years.

However, it appears that the relationship has now ended, just four months after Foster’s non-announcement.

The Daily Mail cites its source for this juicy gossip as the National Enquirer. For anyone unaware of the National Enquirer’s credentials, it’s a quality supermarket tabloid that occasionally reveals ground-breaking exclusives on alien abductions.

But just in case some crumbs of truth managed to slip into the story, here’s what “a source” told the Enquirer: “Jodie’s break up with Cydney is shocking. She and Cydney have been together for so many years and have two children together - the potential fallout and legal wrangling from this could be monumental.”
