Lady Gaga has won Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD awards in San Francisco.
The annual awards, hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, celebrate equality campaigning for LGBT rights.
The 24.-year-old bisexual singer beat friend Adam Lambert - last year’s American Idol runner-up - to the award, which she won for her latest album The Fame Monster.
Other GLAAD winners included Precious director Lee Daniels and Cybill Shepherd for her portrayal of Phyllis Kroll in The L Word.
Shepherd said: “We stand on the shoulders of our elders and I want to thank everyone who’s worked so hard to make this possible.
“I’m very humbled and I don’t know that I could be more dedicated to this cause, but I could never thank you enough, GLAAD, for your education of me.”
