Launch of LGBT short film festival

Russell T Davies, the writer of Dr Who, Torchwood and Queer as Folk, is supporting the world’s biggest gay and lesbian short film festival.

The Iris Prize – Cardiff’s international gay and lesbian short film prize - is open to any short film which is by, for, about or of interest to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex audiences. The winning short film will win a £25,000 prize.

Russell T Davies said: “This year’s shortlist includes work from an astonishing 11 countries, which confirms that gay and lesbian film making is alive and kicking around the world!”

The Iris Prize launches today (2 October) and concludes on Saturday 4 October 2008.
