Melissa Etheridge and girlfriend Tammy Lynn Michaels are planning to marry.
When asked on celebrity television show “Extra” if the couple had plans to marry, Etheridge said “Yes, we have four children and we’re trying to find the right time.”
The couple first exchanged vows five years ago in Malibu, in an unofficial ceremony.
In May 2008 the California Supreme Court removed its ban on gay marriage, but there is a vote in November which may see the ban reinstated.
Melissa Etheridge has for years been one of the most high-profile lesbians in the music industry. Her partner Tammy Lynn Michaels is an actress, best known for playing Shane-obsessed Lacey Haraway in Season 1 of the L Word.
Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi got married in August 2008.
