New L Word show to focus on Alice

Alice is the character to star in The L Word spin-off show, according to entertainment industry website Variety.
In July we reported that Series 6 of The L Word is due to end with an open-ended story line that will continue into a spin-off show which focuses on one of the characters. The spin-off series will initially be shown online.
Alice Pieszecki was widely tipped to be the character chosen for the spin-off show. The social networking site she sets up in the show has a real-life existence as OurChart.com, and an online spin-off would create irresistible ‘brand integration’ opportunities for The L Word producers. The actress who plays Alice, Leisha Hailey, is also signed up as the face of Olivia cruises.
The shortened, final season of The L Word will debut in the US in January 2009.
