Freelance writers
We’re always on the look out for talented new writers to contribute exclusive articles to Lesbilicious.
Types of article we want:
- Thoughtful, well-researched, question-led articles: Why do lesbians love gay man porn? How Dita von Teese murdered burlesque
- ‘How to’ articles: How to be a drag king How to get over a break up in 5 easy(!) steps
- ‘List’ articles: 9 reasons to come out in a job interview The top 5 perfect Valentine gifts (if you want to get dumped)
- Occassionally we also have interviews: “What is it with lesbians and pie?” - Erin Mckeown interview “God, I hope my mother doesn’t read this interview!” Amanda Palmer, as interrogated by Lesbilicious readers
We very rarely publish first-person accounts, so please only pitch objective, third-person articles. Sorry but we don’t publish fiction either.
All articles must be original and not published previously, either in print or online.
Lesbilicious is based in the UK and our primary target is UK-based lesbian and bisexual women. We welcome writers from outside of the UK, but please avoid writing about issues that may not be understood by UK readers. If in doubt, please check with the editor first.
Articles don’t have to be about LGBT topics - we welcome articles on general issues as long as they are written with a lesbian/bisexual audience in mind.
Pitching ideas
If you’re interested in writing for Lesbilicious, email editor@lesbilicious.co.uk with your article pitch.
The pitch should be a few paragraphs to explain your idea and outline the structure of the article. As well as selling your idea it is your chance to show off your writing skills, so please take care with spelling and grammar.
Please do not write the full article before approaching the Editor, as it will be a waste of your time if it’s not right for the site. However do bear in mind that the finished article should be between 500-1000 words long.
We will endeavour to reply to all emails, and so if you haven’t back within 2 weeks feel free to send a reminder.
We pay a flat fee for articles, plus bonuses for hitting pageview targets, so this will suit writers prepared to do some light online promotion for their articles.
